Works Council
Employee participation
We believe it is important that staff are able to contribute ideas and have a say in their work. In the Netherlands, this right to have a say is enshrined in the Works Councils Act. This Act also applies to healthcare organisations.
The works council (OR) represents the staff. The OR contributes to an organisation that operates effectively, transparently and in a balanced manner. It does this by contributing ideas and advising on decisions that may affect staff.
The Works Council of Rondom
Rondom comprises several entities that work together towards a single mission: to help everyone live a better life. One part of Rondom is legally required to have a works council: Rondom Podotherapeuten.
However, we do not view the Works Council merely as a legal obligation. We believe it is important for staff to have a say in decisions that affect them. A well-functioning Works Council helps us to make carefully considered decisions and to work together openly.
The Works Council at Rondom
For us, the Works Council is not a substitute for dialogue between staff and managers. We believe direct contact and informal consultation are important. We therefore encourage this within Rondom. The Works Council complements this, acting as a formal consultative body for matters of organisation-wide or structural importance.
In this way, the Works Council fits in well with how we work together at Rondom: with scope for engagement, open consultation and careful decision-making. The existence of the Works Council is in keeping with Rondom as an organisation in which we maintain an ongoing dialogue with one another and make decisions together.
