Child psychology
Children develop at their own pace. Usually, this development happens naturally, but sometimes you may notice that your child is reacting differently to what you are used to, or is temporarily feeling a bit out of sorts. For example, this might be because their emotions are running higher, their behaviour is changing, they are struggling at school, or situations at home are causing more stress.
It is not always immediately clear what this is related to. Sometimes the signs are clearly visible, and sometimes you mainly notice that your child is dealing with situations differently than before. Together, we will explore what is going on and what support is appropriate.
We offer treatment, diagnosis and support for children with psychological issues and mental health concerns. Together, we explore what is going on, what is affecting your child’s situation and what support best suits their needs, development and everyday environment.
What do we offer?
We offer short-term, problem-focused psychological support tailored to children’s development and everyday lives.
A treatment programme may consist of diagnostics, treatment or a combination of both. During an initial assessment and any diagnostic tests, for example, we identify:
- what signs, symptoms or requests for help there are;
- how your child is developing and coping with emotions and situations;
- the impact that symptoms have on home life, school and daily functioning;
- the role the environment plays in your child’s wellbeing;
- which form of support or treatment may be appropriate.
Depending on the situation, our support may consist of consultations, diagnostics, psycho-education, treatment and support that helps people cope better with symptoms and challenges in daily life.
With children, we tailor our approach to suit their age and stage of development. That is why conversations may be supplemented with observations, play-based activities, creative activities or other methods that help us to better understand their feelings, behaviour and experiences.

Who is this offer intended for?
Child psychology may be appropriate if your child:
- has difficulty with emotions or behaviour;
- often feels insecure, anxious or gloomy;
- struggles at school or in social situations;
- has difficulty with changes or transitions;
- experiences stress or becomes easily overwhelmed;
- has difficulty interacting with other children;
- shows changes in behaviour, mood or development;
- needs support to feel more comfortable or function better.
What can you expect?
A programme usually begins with an initial consultation during which we discuss together what you have observed, the challenges your child is facing and any questions or concerns you may have.
Where further insight is required, diagnostic assessment may form part of the process. This may consist of interviews, questionnaires, observations and, where appropriate, further investigations. In doing so, we look not only at what is causing difficulties, but also at strengths and what is already going well.
Your child is at the heart of the process. At the same time, parents or carers play an important role. That is why we actively involve you. Together, we look at how you can best support your child, both at home and in other everyday situations.
We will then work with you to determine which next steps are appropriate for your child’s situation and needs. This may involve treatment, a combined programme of assessment and treatment, or advice on suitable support.
In any case, you can count on:
- care for your child and their environment;
- an approach tailored to age, developmental stage and care needs;
- space to better understand behaviour, emotions and situations;
- a clear explanation of the process and expectations;
- collaboration with other healthcare providers from Rondom where this adds value.
Collaboration with other healthcare providers
In children, development, environment and day-to-day functioning often influence one another. That is why our psychologists look not only at your child, but also at the factors surrounding them.
Where appropriate, we work together with other healthcare providers from Rondom. Depending on the context, this could be, for example, a occupational therapist, lifestyle coach or another practitioner. This ensures that the support provided is tailored to your child’s development, home situation and everyday life.
