More about me
What is your role, and what gives you energy in your work?
At Rondom, I work as the department manager for Exercise Therapy and as an educational developer, focusing on the healthy and sustainable employability of staff. Drawing on my background as a physiotherapist, movement scientist and lecturer, I combine critical thinking rooted in my physiotherapy background with scientific knowledge and education. What really energises me is helping someone take the next step! Whether that’s in relation to an injury, an organisational issue, or their development as a healthcare professional! I’m also inspired by innovation, collaboration and developing solutions that really make a difference.
What is your favourite quote, motto or tip to help people get through life more easily?
Motion is lotion!
How can you tell from your work that it really suits you?
I’m quite energetic and curious (and, to be honest, I get bored quite easily). That’s precisely why the variety in my work suits me so well. No two days are the same: I can delve deep into specific subjects, provide patient care, teach and develop educational programmes, and I get to work with all sorts of great and diverse people. It’s a great way for me to channel my energy and creativity. And because I love being around people, I also get a lot of energy from interacting with all my lovely colleagues!
What do you do outside of work that people might not expect of you?
Given my background as a physiotherapist, it’s probably not all that surprising that I enjoy sport. I’m a keen padel player and keep very active outside the court too. What people might not expect is that I really love travelling. I enjoy discovering new places and cultures and can get quite excited about all the adventures I have and the new people I get to know all over the world.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
I believe that good care and truly helping someone are not just about resolving a complaint. It’s also about people understanding what’s going on and what they can already do themselves. That’s actually why I got into education and research; the right knowledge can give someone just the insight or confidence they need to take the next step towards living a better life!
