Schema therapy
Schema therapy is a treatment method that helps you to better understand and change patterns in your thinking, feelings and behaviour. These patterns often develop early in life and can continue to influence how you view yourself, others and situations.
In schema therapy, you work with your therapist to explore where certain reactions or beliefs originate and how they continue to affect your daily life. By gaining a better understanding of underlying needs and patterns, you create space to interact with yourself and others in a different way.

When can schema therapy help?
Schema therapy can help if you find yourself repeatedly falling into the same patterns or if certain feelings or beliefs continue to hold you back. The treatment focuses not only on symptoms in the here and now, but also on the underlying patterns and needs.
Schema therapy may, for example, be suitable for:
- a negative self-image;
- difficulty setting boundaries;
- recurring problems in relationships;
- feelings of insecurity or rejection;
- to be strict with yourself or to expect a lot from yourself;
- getting stuck in recurring patterns;
- difficulty in recognising or expressing needs.
