Wound care issues
Perhaps this sounds familiar to you: it is difficult to trust others or to ask for support. You may be afraid of being rejected, or, conversely, keep your distance when someone gets too close.
Sometimes such patterns develop early in life. They can later have an impact on relationships, self-confidence and emotions.
You may well wonder why certain situations evoke so much tension, uncertainty or distance.

What is it?
Attachment refers to the bond a child forms with parents or carers. In the early years of life, a child learns whether others are available to provide comfort, support and security.
When a child feels safe, this helps them to develop trust in themselves and in others. However, sometimes this process does not go so well. For example, when there is a lot of stress, uncertainty or insecurity. In such cases, the attachment bond may not develop as securely.
Attachment issues may become apparent in childhood, but can also have an impact later in life.
