What can you expect during your visit to the medical chiropodist?
Is this your first visit to a medical pedicurist? If so, it’s helpful to know in advance how an appointment works and what to expect.
During your first visit, we will assess the condition of your feet and discuss your situation. We will determine what foot care is appropriate and discuss which treatment best suits your situation.
Below you can read about how an initial appointment usually proceeds.
Before your appointment
To ensure we can help you properly, we ask that you come to your appointment well prepared.
Please note the following:
- a valid identity document;
- a current medication overview, where applicable;
- your podiatrist’s treatment plan;
- where applicable: an oncology consent form if you are undergoing treatment that may affect your immune system;
- any information about previous treatments that is relevant to your foot care.

The first appointment
During your first appointment, we will get to know each other and discuss your situation. We will then assess the condition of your feet and determine what foot care is required.
The appointment usually consists of the following parts:
- the intake interview
- checking your feet
- treatment and treatment plan
- succession

The intake interview
Your appointment begins with a consultation. The medical pedicurist will ask you questions to gain a clear picture of your health and the condition of your feet.
Among other things, we will discuss:
- your symptoms;
- your medical condition;
- any treatments or medication;
- whether you can look after your feet yourself;
- your daily activities;
- any previous foot care.
