University of Amsterdam
We collaborate with the University of Amsterdam (UvA) on scientific research in the field of podiatry. Through this collaboration, we bring together everyday clinical practice and scientific knowledge.

This helps us to better understand how symptoms arise, and how we can prevent them earlier or treat them more effectively. Rondom contributes practical experience and data from primary care. The University of Amsterdam (UvA) contributes scientific knowledge and research methods. Through this collaboration, new insights can be directly applied to the care of our clients.
Research in practice
An important example of this collaboration is the research into Achilles tendon complaints. The Ministry of Defence is also involved in this research. For this study, we are looking specifically at mid-portion Achilles tendinopathy. This is a common condition characterised by pain and stiffness in the middle section of the Achilles tendon.
Together, we will investigate what increases the risk of these symptoms. Consider, for example, strain during sport, walking or physical characteristics. Once we have a better understanding of what causes Achilles tendon problems, we will be able to treat them more effectively and more quickly.
Continuing to develop together
This collaboration demonstrates how healthcare and science reinforce one another. By working together with the University of Amsterdam (UvA), we continue to develop our podiatric care. In this way, we can continue to contribute to appropriate and forward-looking care.
