Sport and exercise with others
Would you like to do sport or exercise with others, but are finding it difficult? Perhaps you find the pace too fast, are worried about any health issues, or feel unsure in a group. Exercising with others can be enjoyable and motivating. But it can also be stressful if you can no longer do as much as you used to. Sport and exercise are important for health, fitness and self-confidence. But they must be suited to your abilities. Not everyone needs to exercise intensively. Going for a walk together, gentle exercise or an adapted activity can also be very beneficial.

What do you notice?
Exercising with others can be difficult if your body or mind isn’t quite up to it.
You may, for example, notice that:
- you’re worried that you’ll hold the group up;
- you experience pain during or after exercise;
- you get tired more quickly than others;
- if you feel insecure about your body;
- you find noise or stimuli bothersome;
- if you do not know which sport is safe;
- avoids your activities;
- you lose your fitness;
- You lack the motivation to exercise on your own.
Sometimes you compare yourself with others. This can be discouraging, whereas it is actually important to go at your own pace.
