Overuse of the foot, ankle or leg
Do you experience pain after walking, standing or exercising for a long time? Or do you find that the same movement causes discomfort more and more quickly? If so, you may be suffering from overuse. You may feel the discomfort in your foot, ankle, knee or lower leg.
Overuse often develops gradually. At first, you may only feel a bit of stiffness or tiredness. Later on, moving around may become painful and it may be harder to carry on with your normal activities.

What is it?
When you overexert yourself, you demand more from your body than it can cope with at that moment. Muscles, tendons or joints are not given enough time to recover. This can lead to irritation, pain and stiffness.
Overuse does not always mean that something is broken. However, it does mean that the balance between exertion and recovery is probably not right.
If you take action in good time, your symptoms may improve and you can prevent them from getting worse.
