Herzog Medical
Did you know that the RondOm team can also supply products from Herzog Medical? These include compression stockings, ankle socks and tubes (compression stockings without a foot section). It is important that these products are measured correctly, particularly the compression stockings and the tubes. The proper functioning and effectiveness of these products depend on the correct fit.
How do Herzog products work?
- Shock absorption During foot strike, the compression stockings and tubes ensure that there is less lateral vibration (shaking) of the calf muscles. This results in fewer tensile forces being exerted on the periosteum and the Achilles tendons. The shock-absorbing effect reduces muscle damage.
- Optimal healing process Compression stockings and tubes from Herzog Medical ensure that the calf muscles are pressed tightly together. In the case of a condition such as ‘hamstring strain’, for example, this compression can help to press the edges of the wound closer together, allowing the wound to heal more quickly. In addition, using the stockings and tubes reduces the risk of scarring and helps prevent bruising.
Promoting recovery and performance
Herzog compression stockings provide relatively high compression at the ankle of approximately 30 mm Hg, decreasing towards the knee to approximately 23 mm Hg. The action of the stockings, combined with the pumping action of the calf muscle, ensures faster drainage of blood. Waste products are dissolved in the fluid. The increased pressure on the muscle tissue forces excess fluid from the intercellular space back into the circulation. The compression stockings support the body. The blood in the veins is then returned to the heart, against the force of gravity. The blood vessels can only continue to function properly if they are regularly and rhythmically squeezed by the muscles in the legs – as happens when walking.
