Shin splints
Do you experience pain in your shins during or after exercise? This is often referred to as shin splints, runner’s shin or medial tibial stress syndrome. The pain is usually caused by repeated strain on the lower leg.
This condition is common amongst runners and athletes who do a lot of running or jumping. Building up training too quickly can also cause symptoms.

What is it?
Irritation of the shin muscles causes the area around the shin to become overloaded. This often involves irritation of the muscles, tendons and periosteum around the shin.
The lower leg has to absorb a great deal of impact whilst walking, running and jumping. If the strain exceeds what the lower leg can cope with, pain may develop.
