Sports Podiatry
Exercise places great demands on your body. Whether you exercise for fun or train intensively, your feet and lower body play a key role in how you move, bear weight and perform. Sometimes, problems develop gradually, for example due to increasing training intensity or (over)use. Other problems arise suddenly whilst exercising.
Through sports podiatry, we work with you to find ways for you to (continue to) enjoy sport in a safe and responsible manner. We focus not only on addressing any symptoms, but also on preventing overuse injuries and supporting your sporting goals.

What do we offer?
Sports podiatry focuses on problems arising from sport and physical activity. During sport, feet, muscles and joints are often subjected to different stresses than in everyday life. That is why we look not only at the area where you are experiencing symptoms, but also at how you move and how sporting activity affects your body.
Depending on your situation, support may include, for example:
- research into posture, movement and physical activity;
- analysis of standing, walking or sport-specific movements;
- advice on exercise, training and recovery;
- guidance on dealing with complaints whilst exercising;
- support to help people continue to exercise and play sport in a pleasant and responsible way.
The type of support that is appropriate varies from person to person.
Who is this offer intended for?
Sports podiatry may be appropriate if you:
- experiences symptoms whilst exercising;
- notices that complaints recur as training progresses;
- has pain in their feet, ankles or lower legs;
- notice that exercise affects your sporting performance;
- support for recovery or a return to sport;
- if you want to prevent injuries whilst exercising;
- has questions about tax, technology or sports tax.
You don’t have to be a top-level athlete to benefit from sports podiatry. Recreational sportspeople are also welcome.
Are you unsure whether sports podiatry is right for your situation? We’d be happy to discuss this with you.
What can you expect?
We’ll start with a discussion about your symptoms, sport, training workload and what you’d like to be able to continue doing.
We will then assess how you move and which factors may influence your symptoms or performance during sport. In doing so, we will look at what you need to continue exercising comfortably and safely.
