Thickening in a tendon
This is also known as: ganglion. A ganglion is a fluid-filled sac that often occurs at a weak point in a tendon sheath or near a joint. It is usually found on the top of the foot. If the swelling causes pain, it is advisable to see a podiatrist. This condition can also occur in the midfoot and the rearfoot.

A treatment
Treatment depends on the location: felt therapy, footwear advice, pressure-relieving podiatric insoles or shoe modifications may be used. The expected outcome is a reduction in symptoms or complete relief from symptoms. A ganglion is usually permanent. If insufficient results are achieved, surgery may be considered.
