Inflammation/irritation of the joint capsule
Pain in the forefoot, particularly around the joint between the second and third toes, can occur on both the top and bottom of the foot and may be accompanied by swelling. If you experience pain (when putting weight on your foot) or swelling, please contact your podiatrist.
Problems affecting the forefoot are often caused by poor foot mechanics (poor muscle function and/or reduced mobility). If the symptoms are still in the acute phase, a felt bandage may be applied. In addition, corrective and/or pressure-relieving podiatric insoles can be developed, and in cases of partial dislocation, taping and/or (silicone) orthoses are used. The underlying cause will always be addressed.
The expected outcome of this complaint is a full recovery.
