Inward rolling of the foot whilst walking
Overpronation whilst walking/pronated gait
What is it?
When the ankle and foot roll inwards too much and too abruptly upon landing on the ground, this is known as overpronation. Overpronation is a common cause of many different conditions affecting the legs and feet. Overpronation particularly causes symptoms on the inner side of the legs and feet.
A treatment
The treatment consists of podiatric insoles to correct foot function and/or alignment. In addition, advice on footwear will be provided. Foot muscle-strengthening exercises are particularly beneficial for children.
The expected outcome is a reduction in symptoms, leading to symptom-free status.
