Ingrown toenail
Do you have pain on the side of your toenail? Is the skin next to the nail red, swollen or tender? If so, you may have an ingrown toenail.
An ingrown toenail often affects the big toe. The problem may start off minor, but can become increasingly painful if the nail continues to press into the skin.

What is it?
With an ingrown toenail, the edge or tip of the nail grows into the skin of the nail fold. The skin becomes irritated and may become inflamed.
Sometimes, excess skin tissue develops next to the nail. Pus or wound fluid may also form.
