Spondyloarthritis
Spondyloarthritis is an umbrella term for a group of rheumatic diseases. The most common conditions our podiatrists see in patients are psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.
What is psoriatic arthritis?
Psoriatic arthritis is a rheumatic inflammatory condition that can affect people with psoriasis. Do you have psoriatic arthritis? If so, you may experience joint inflammation. When you have joint inflammation, your joints feel stiff and painful. The inflammation can occur in any joint, for example in the hands or feet.
What is Bechterew’s disease?
Bechterew’s disease, also known as ankylosing spondylitis, is a rheumatic condition characterised by inflammation in the joints, particularly of the pelvis and the spine, and in which the vertebrae in particular become increasingly stiff and eventually fuse together.
