Rheumatology Congress 2024

**Our colleagues Monique Gouw, Monique Janssen and Sabine van der Peet-de Haan attended the annual Rheumatology conference organised by the Dutch Health Professionals in Rheumatology (NHPR) in Utrecht!**

Monique Gouw, together with Elleke Huijbrechts (PhD candidate and lecturer in Health at Fontys University of Applied Sciences), gave a presentation in which they explored current developments in foot care for people with rheumatic conditions. They discussed common foot complaints associated with rheumatism, the importance of adequate foot care, and why specific training in this area is essential.

In-depth training in foot care and successful workshops

In addition, they focused on the changes to the organisation of foot care for people at increased risk of a wound or an amputation. They explained what these care module what it entails, who is eligible, how to be referred and exactly what is covered.

Following the presentations, a series of interesting workshops were held, all focusing on ‘the foot’. The response was positive and the participants asked some good questions. We believe that, with this event, we have taken a good first step together towards establishing podiatry within the field of rheumatology! A successful conference, then!
