Reimbursement for the Stop Smoking Programme
Giving up smoking is an important step. Good support can help you stick to this change and increase your chances of staying smoke-free.
Rondom Leefstijl offers professionally guided Stop Smoking Programme. On this page, you can read about how the reimbursement works, what your health insurer may cover and what you should bear in mind.
Reimbursement under the basic health insurance
The stop-smoking programme is often covered by basic health insurance. The level of cover you receive depends on your health insurer and the terms of your policy.
At VGZ and the affiliated labels, our stop-smoking programme will be fully reimbursed under basic health insurance from 2026. The stop-smoking aids that form part of the programme are also not subject to the excess.
Reimbursement may vary with other health insurers. As we will not yet have contracts with all insurers by 2026, you may have to pay part of the costs yourself.
Guaranteed reimbursement
We meet the quality standards set by health insurers. As a result, our stop-smoking programme is eligible for reimbursement. Our coaches:
- are registered in the Smoking Cessation Quality Register;
- work in accordance with the current Healthcare Module on tobacco addiction;
- work in accordance with the Tobacco Addiction Guidelines.
Excess
Whether taking part in the Stop Smoking Programme counts towards your excess depends on your health insurer and your insurance policy. Some health insurers reimburse the full cost of the programme without it counting towards your excess. With other health insurers, the reimbursement may count towards your excess.
Different conditions may also apply to aids or medicines to help you stop smoking. Whether these are reimbursed and whether your excess applies varies depending on your health insurer and policy.
Conditions of participation
You can take part in the Stop Smoking Programme if you:
- you are aged 18 or over;
- smoke and want to give up;
- has sufficient motivation to actively participate in the full programme.
A referral is only required if we do not have a contract with your health insurer.
