Occupational therapy for adults
Daily life is constantly changing. Work, family, study, socialising and leisure all take up time and energy. Usually, it is possible to strike a good balance between these. But sometimes you may find that everyday activities no longer come naturally.
Perhaps it takes more effort to get through the day, you find it harder to keep track of things, or you notice that activities at home, at work or in your spare time no longer match what you are capable of. This may be temporary, but it could also be linked to symptoms, recovery, changes in your life or a medical condition.
Occupational therapy helps adults to carry out daily activities in a way that suits their abilities, goals and circumstances. Together, we look for solutions that ensure you can continue to do the activities that are important to you.
What do we offer?
Occupational therapy for adults focuses on supporting daily activities at different stages of life and in various situations.
During an initial assessment, for example, we look at:
- which activities give you energy or, conversely, drain your energy;
- what your daily routines and habits are like;
- the balance between stress and resilience;
- factors that influence functioning at home, at work or during leisure time;
- ways of organising or carrying out activities differently.
Depending on your situation, our support may consist of advice, skills training, coaching, energy management, assistive devices or practical adjustments tailored to your everyday life.

Who is this offer intended for?
Occupational therapy for adults may be appropriate if you:
- notices that everyday activities no longer come naturally;
- struggles to strike a balance between work, family and leisure;
- gets tired more quickly or has less energy;
- wish to continue carrying out activities despite symptoms or limitations;
- has difficulty with plans, structuring or distribute of activities;
- seeks support when facing changes in health or life circumstances;
- more independent want to function at home or at work;
- want to gain more control over your daily life.
What can you expect?
An appointment with the occupational therapist begins with a discussion about your daily life, your goals and the activities that are important to you. Together, we’ll explore what gives you energy, where you run into difficulties and what you need to keep up with your activities.
Depending on your situation, we look at patterns, habits and circumstances that affect how you function. We then translate this into practical solutions that fit in with your daily life.
In any case, you can count on:
- personalised support tailored to your situation and goals;
- practical advice that can be applied straight away;
- support focused on independence and self-determination;
- focus on the balance between exertion and recovery;
- collaboration with other healthcare providers from Rondom where this adds value.

Collaboration with other healthcare providers
Day-to-day functioning is influenced by physical, mental and environmental factors. That is why our occupational therapists work together with other healthcare professionals at Rondom wherever necessary.
Depending on your situation, this could be, for example, a physiotherapist, lifestyle coach, psychologist, podiatrist or another practitioner. By combining our knowledge and expertise, we provide support that is tailored to your goals and everyday life.

Costs and reimbursement
Occupational therapy is covered by basic health insurance. You are entitled to 10 hours of occupational therapy per calendar year. Do you have supplementary insurance? If so, you may be entitled to additional treatment hours on top of these 10 hours. This varies depending on your health insurer and policy. You should therefore always read your policy terms and conditions carefully or contact your health insurer. That way, you’ll know exactly how many treatment sessions are covered for you.
