Reimbursement for Combined Lifestyle Intervention (GLI) programmes
A Combined Lifestyle Intervention (GLI), such as CooL, BeweegKuur or SLIMMER is a two-year programme in which you work towards a healthier lifestyle.
In many cases, the costs of a GLI programme are fully covered by basic health insurance. On this page, you can read how this works, what conditions apply and what you should bear in mind.

Reimbursement under the basic health insurance scheme
A GLI programme is covered by basic health insurance if you meet the eligibility criteria. The cover applies to the entire lifestyle programme and the support that goes with it. Are you taking part in a GLI programme for the second time? If so, you will always need prior authorisation from your health insurer.
The reimbursement applies to all elements covered by the lifestyle programme, such as:
- consultations and support from the lifestyle coach;
- group meetings;
- individual support that forms part of the programme.
Costs for activities that fall outside the lifestyle programme are usually not reimbursed. Examples include:
- a gym membership;
- membership of a sports club;
- additional activities that you choose yourself alongside the programme.

Excess
Is your GLI programme covered by your basic health insurance? If so, this reimbursement will not count towards your excess. This means that you will not have to pay any excess to take part in the GLI programme.
Different rules may apply to the costs of additional activities outside the programme.
