Rondom’s lifestyle coaches and dietitians are working with diabetes nurses from Diabeter to develop a COOL Type 1 programme for people with type 1 diabetes.
People with type 1 diabetes can benefit greatly from lifestyle support. Combining insulin use, a healthy diet and sufficient exercise requires a personalised approach. These factors directly influence one another and have a significant impact on blood sugar levels. Incorporating lifestyle coaching into the care of this target group therefore requires an approach that takes into account the complexity of the condition and diabetes-related complications.
Cooperation between different healthcare providers is essential to tailor care and support to the individual needs of people with type 1 diabetes.
The COOL Type 1 programme builds on an existing combined lifestyle intervention that has already been shown to be effective in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
At the same time, we are investigating how collaboration within Rondom-Diabeter is progressing and how it can be further strengthened. In doing so, we are identifying both hindering and facilitating factors. We use these insights to optimise both the collaboration and the programme.
In this way, we are working towards a sustainable and appropriate lifestyle programme for people with type 1 diabetes.
