FootWork Pro Pressure Measurement Systems
Reliability of a podiatric pressure measurement system
As a healthcare organisation, we feel responsible for the quality of the care we provide. This means that we continue to invest in knowledge and research. We want to be certain that the medical devices we use are reliable and do what they are supposed to do.
In this study, we examined the reliability of the Footwork Pro pressure measurement system in healthy subjects. In podiatry, we use the pressure measurement system to measure the amount of pressure generated under the foot whilst standing and walking. This gives us an insight into the load on the foot. This information helps us to better understand symptoms and choose an appropriate treatment.
Aim of the study
The aim of this study was to determine whether the pressure measurement system provides reliable readings. We wanted to know whether the results remain consistent when we repeat the same measurement. This is important because we use this data when making treatment decisions. If a measuring instrument does not provide stable readings, we cannot draw valid conclusions.
By checking whether the measurements are reliable, we ensure that we are working with tools we can trust. We want to provide care that not only feels right, but is also well-founded.
Research
For this study, we measured participants several times using the Footwork Pro pressure measurement system. During each measurement, the pressure under different parts of the foot was measured and recorded.
We repeated the same measurements under identical conditions. We then compared the results. This enabled us to assess whether the system consistently produces roughly the same results.
Results
The results show that the Footwork Pro pressure measurement system is highly reliable: the results of the repeated measurements largely corresponded with one another.
This means that the system provides stable measurements and is suitable for recording the pressure distribution under the foot. This gives us a solid basis for analysing foot load and underpinning a course of treatment.

Conclusion
This study shows that the Footwork Pro pressure measurement system provides reliable readings. We can therefore use this system with confidence in our podiatry practice.
By developing and sharing knowledge, we contribute to transparent and evidence-based care.
